Intake Assessment $300

This is a one-time, 60-minute session designed to understand your concerns and goals for working together. During this session, we’ll conduct a thorough yet efficient assessment, which includes gathering important background information and evaluating you or your child’s current mental health, including social, emotional, and behavioral domains. If applicable, we will provide a clinical diagnosis to help guide your treatment. At the end of the assessment, we will provide recommendations for next steps, such as scheduling therapy sessions, discussing further testing options, connecting you with trusted referrals and resources, or reviewing other advice specific to your situation.

Individual Therapy

Standard therapy sessions are 45-minutes, with the flexibility to meet your needs through 30-minute and 90-minute sessions as needed.

We offer short-term, evidence-based treatments. Most clients work with us on a weekly or biweekly basis across 12-20 sessions, but can be shorter or longer depending on your individual need. We will help you estimate your treatment duration during the intake assessment.

With a Licensed Psychologist $225
With a Licensed Mental Health Counselor $175

Reduced Fees for Services with Postdoctoral Residents and Advanced Psychology Trainees

Therapy services offered by our postdoctoral residents and advanced practicum students are reduced to $125-$175 per session. Our psychology trainees are very closely supervised by the practice owner, Dr. Kristin Edwards, so you get the benefit of a specialized, collaborative approach at half the price. It’s a bit like having a team of people rooting for you—because we are!

Evaluation rates

Cost of Comprehensive Assessment

We offer comprehensive psychoeducational, psychological, and neuropsychological testing. The cost for evaluation is a flat rate of $2,000 for Preschool to Grade 1 and $2,500 for Grades 2 through 12 and adults. This accounts for all clinician time spent meeting with parents and child, selecting and administering tests, scoring, aggregating and analyzing test results, consulting with teachers or other providers and outside parties, writing reports and providing in-depth feedback with parents. A deposit of $300 is collected at the intake to hold the evaluation and the remaining balance is collected at the first testing session, unless a custom payment plan has been arranged. Read our post on how to pay for your evaluation. We offer reduced rates for testing completed with our Psychology Trainees. Please inquire if interested.

Cost of Gifted Testing

We offer a single-assessment package for the cognitive (IQ) test required for admission to gifted programs for a flat rate of $600. This evaluation includes a single child assessment session (approximately 90 to 120 minutes), brief verbal feedback to support you in understanding scores, and a written summary and score appendix to share with your child’s school or other party of your choice. Read our post on Gifted/Intelligence Testing.

Cost of Testing for Young Adults and College Students

Comprehensive testing for university and exam board accommodations typically falls under the standard assessment rate of $2,500 given the documentation and assessment requirements of most school boards.

For young adults seeking evaluation for the purpose of their own knowledge (e.g., those who are curious if they have ADHD or autism), we offer basic diagnostic evaluations at a reduced rate of $900.*

*Fee may vary in cost depending on symptom complexity.

Reduced Rate Comprehensive Assessment

As part of our training facility, we offer reduced rate psychological assessments conducted by our Doctoral Practicum Students with limited availability and as appropriate.

These students have already earned their Master's degrees in School Psychology and are currently in their 2nd or 3rd year of doctoral studies, working towards their Doctorate. Each assessment is performed under the close supervision of a Licensed Psychologist, ensuring that you receive the best care and attention.

The assessment is a reduced rate of $1,500 for all ages.

We understand that insurance can be a major consideration for many of our clients, which is why we strive to make the reimbursement process as straightforward as possible.

As of Jan 1, 2023, our practice no longer bills insurance directly for testing services. The decision to become a self-pay practice was based on the increasing limitations that insurance companies were placing on us including denying coverage of ADHD & learning disorder assessments and treatments, and requiring us to share your child’s diagnosis with them.

Tampa Pediatric Psychology values patient privacy and believes that decisions about mental health treatment should be guided by experienced providers rather than insurance requirements.

Payment Options

  • If you would like to use insurance, we can help you submit an out-of-network claim for any reimbursement your plan provides. We partner with a claims-processing company called Thrizer who will submit your claim to insurance on your behalf, if interested.

Insurance companies will only cover assessments that are considered “medically necessary”. During your intake appointment, we will discuss the need and purpose for the evaluation. Most of our clients are in need of testing (or you wouldn’t be reaching out). An example of a non-medically necessary assessment would be cognitive testing for the purpose of gifted eligibility in school.

Please contact our Billing Specialist if you are interested in using insurance so we can help you understand your coverage & any limits.

  • We proudly accept the CareCredit credit card to help you finance the cost of psychological assessments. Special financing options are available. Please contact our Care Coordinator for more information or sign up here.

  • We are happy to arrange a custom payment plan that fits your family’s financial needs. This typically looks like splitting the cost of evaluation over 3-4 biweekly or monthly installments.

Please let our Care Coordinator know you are interested in hearing more about our custom payment plan options.
