What are the core symptoms of Autism Spectrum Disorder?

Understanding the CORE Symptoms of Autism:

1. Impaired Social Interaction:

Individuals with autism often struggle with social interactions. They may experience difficulties in establishing and maintaining relationships, understanding non-verbal cues, and engaging in reciprocal conversations. These challenges may result in social isolation and feelings of exclusion.

2. Communication Difficulties:

Another symptoms of autism is impaired communication skills. This could manifest as delayed language development, limited vocabulary, difficulty initiating or sustaining conversations, or reliance on repetitive and stereotypical language patterns. Some individuals with autism may also have difficulties comprehending abstract or figurative language.

3. Restricted and Repetitive Behaviors:

Individuals with autism might exhibit restricted and repetitive behavioral patterns like repetitive movements, such as hand-flapping or rocking. They may develop rigid routines and rituals, showing resistance to change. Additionally, they may have highly focused interests that are often pursued with great intensity.

4. Sensory Sensitivities:

Many individuals with autism experience sensory sensitivities, making them particularly susceptible to heightened responses to stimuli such as sound, light, touch, taste, or smell. This hypersensitivity can lead to distress and discomfort in various environments and situations.

It is important to note that each individual with autism is unique, and the extent and presentation of symptoms can vary significantly. Additionally, these symptoms typically emerge in early childhood but may become more apparent as the child grows older and faces increased social demands.
