Online Counseling for
Teens & Young Adults

Online therapy has emerged as a valuable resource for teens and young adults seeking mental health support. In today's digital age, the accessibility and convenience of online therapy platforms provide a safe and confidential space for individuals to address their emotional wellbeing. Through secure video calls, you can connect with one of our licensed therapists from the comfort of your home. This virtual format eliminates barriers such as transportation and scheduling conflicts, making it easier for youth to engage in therapy. Additionally, online therapy offers a sense of anonymity, fostering a sense of comfort and openness among teens and young adults who may feel hesitant or self-conscious about seeking traditional in-person therapy.

What do I need to know about online therapy or “teletherapy”?

  • After having an intake assessment and determining that individual therapy is a good fit for you or your child, your psychologist will schedule your telehealth appointments with you.

  • Make sure you have a reliable device with a stable internet connection like a computer, laptop, tablet, or even a smartphone. Ensure that your device's camera and microphone are functional.

  • Choose a quiet and private location where you can comfortably meet.

  • Check your internet speed prior to the appointment to avoid connectivity issues.

  • Your psychologist will provide you with a secure link to access the appointment. No software is needed unless you are using a mobile phone in which you will need to download the Google Meet app.

  • If there are any specific documents, forms, or notes that you want to share with your psychologist during the telehealth appointment, have them prepared and readily accessible on your device. There is also a place to upload documents on the intake form.

  • ACT is a science-based model of behavior change. Our high school and college students learn skills and strategies that they can immediately incorporate in their lives. We often focus on the science of genuine happiness, new ways of responding to difficult emotions, how to take the power out of anxiety or ADHD, and how to break free from self-criticism and self-hate.

  • CBT is a gold standard treatment for many mental health conditions including anxiety and ADHD. We teach our high school and college students to recognize how distortions in their thinking may be creating problems and how to reevaluate them in light of reality, to better understand the behavior and motivation of others, how to use problem-solving skills to cope with difficult situations, and how to develop a greater sense of confidence in their own abilities.

  • Our psychologists have advanced training in CBT-i and help teens and young adults create healthy sleep routines and improve their sleep. CBT-i is a gold standard treatment for behavioral sleep problems such as difficulty falling asleep and staying asleep and early waking.

  • EFT is based on the idea that emotions are not the only important factors in our lives, but the key to who we are. We focus on understanding attachment systems, increasing awareness of emotion, enhancing emotion regulation, and transforming emotion. Learning to regulate and cope with difficult emotions is a valuable skill for teens and young adults to have in order to have successful and meaningful future relationships.

  • Our psychologists have extensive training on behavioral treatment for ADHD. We often work on self-acceptance and core values, motivation, organizational skills training, and emotion regulation to increase productivity and success.

  • SPACE is an evidence-based treatment for teens with anxiety, OCD, and related problems. SPACE is particularly helpful for teens who refuse to participate in therapy, as only the parent is involved in treatment. The treatment focuses on changes that parents can make to their own behavior, they do not need to make their child change. The two main changes that parents learn to make in SPACE treatment are to respond more supportively to their anxious child and to reduce the accommodations they have been making to the child symptoms.
